Top-up bung with long tapered fitting suitable for barrels and demijohns. Also referred to as “bollitore” and with a height of 35 cm.
The top-up bung is a tool used during fermentation that allows carbon dioxide to be released in order to avoid pressure build-up inside the barrel, while at the same time preventing air from entering.
It makes it possible to top up the barrel without opening it and to see whether the wine is contracting or expanding, and therefore whether it is necessary to add more wine or not. In addition, as already mentioned, during fermentation it also acts as an airlock.
The top-up bung can be separated into two parts: first separate the lower part, insert the fitting into the bung hole of the barrel and then add wine until the first chamber is filled. Next, fit the second part and top up with water before closing with the cap.
Cone dimensions: lower diameter 35 mm, upper diameter 53 mm.
