How a vertical hydraulic grape press works

The vertical hydraulic grape press is a winemaking machine suitable for professional processing and more demanding production needs. It works according to Pascal’s principle, whereby pressure applied at one point of a liquid is transmitted with equal intensity in all directions.

In this way, the pressure concentrated on the piston is transferred to the pressing plate, allowing uniform force to be applied to the grape pomace. The machine is operated and the pressure level controlled through a control panel mounted on the frame and a dedicated pressure gauge.

Advantages of vertical hydraulic presses for grape pomace

Using a vertical hydraulic press makes the pressing stage easier and faster, especially when processing large quantities of grapes or pomace.

An optional second trolley can help optimise working times, as it allows a new load to be prepared while the first pressing cycle is in progress.

From a quality point of view, this type of press allows grape pomace to be treated more gently, limiting breakdown and the production of lees. It is a suitable solution for processes where pressing quality needs to be enhanced, both for white grapes and red grape pomace intended for premium production.

Available versions, cages and optional accessories

Vertical hydraulic presses can be available in different configurations, with removable trolley, three-phase or single-phase electric motor, wooden cage, wooden cage with stainless steel hoops or full stainless steel cage.

As standard, the machines are supplied with a wooden cage and push-button control panel. Depending on the model and configuration, cage variants or a PLC touch screen control panel may be available.

Each offer includes one trolley and one cage. If you want to add a second trolley, it is advisable to request a quote before purchasing.

The machines are Made in Italy, supplied as standard with oil and apply pressure from top to bottom. They are equipped with a double-acting chrome-plated piston and a pressure gauge for automatic pressure adjustment. The operating pressure is 350 atmospheres.

Difference between a vertical hydraulic press and a grape press
