The rubber cap for mini fermenter has a central hole into which the mini fermenter, or airlock, is inserted, and is used as a connector on demijohns or bottles.

During fermentation, its function is to allow the airlock to be fitted onto the containers in order to let the carbon dioxide produced escape while at the same time preventing air from entering, thus avoiding oxidation of the product inside.
