How to choose wine closures

Choosing the right wine closures is important for sealing the bottle correctly and protecting the product during storage. Not all closures are suitable for the same use: you need to consider the type of wine, bottle, capping machine and expected storage time.

Before purchasing, always check diameter, height, material, pack size and compatibility with the capping machine you use.

Corks for wine

Wine corks are among the most traditional closures for wine. They can be single-piece natural corks, agglomerated corks, Twin Top corks or tapered corks, depending on the type of use and the bottle to be sealed.

Agglomerated or Twin Top corks are often chosen for young wines or shorter storage periods, while single-piece natural corks may be more suitable when a closure for longer ageing is required. Always check the information provided in each product sheet.

Synthetic corks and plastic stoppers

Synthetic corks and plastic stoppers are practical solutions for wines intended for faster consumption or for specific uses, always depending on the bottle type and the capping machine available.

Before choosing, check the size, closure shape, bottle compatibility and capping system.

Crown caps for wine, beer and sparkling wine

Crown caps are used for some wine bottles, craft beer, sparkling wines or fizzy products. They may be available in different diameters, such as 26 mm or 29 mm, and should be chosen according to the bottle and compatible capping machine.

For sparkling wine or bottle refermentation processes, specific accessories such as bidules or wire hoods may also be required, when provided for by the type of closure.
