Burnable Sulfur Discs are a non-dripping product used to sulfurise casks, vats and beehives. They are simply sulfur tablets to burn for sanitation, disinfection and dry preservation of wine vessels such as wooden barrels and barriques.
How do Burnable Sulfur Discs work?
The sulfur dioxide produced by Burnable Sulfur Discs disinfects the wood, reaching even difficult areas. They burn evenly with no dripping risk.
Light the discs and lower them into the cask with an iron wire secured to the bunghole. When removing the wire, avoid scraping the walls to prevent any unburnt part from falling. Dry and air the casks before sulfurising.
Each sulfur tablet (10 g) produces about 11.5 g of SO₂, enough for 6–7 hL of cask capacity to be sulfurised.
