The caustic soda flakes detergent is used in oenology for the cleaning of casks and barrels. It is suitable not only for routine washing of fermentation containers, but also for refreshing foul-smelling barrels and casks with VA/vinegar taint. A typical use is restoring soaked containers where mould has formed.
The product is made in Italy and is based on sodium hydroxide flakes, sodium carbonate and excipients.
How to use the flake detergent
Wear rubber gloves: the product is corrosive and, in contact with water, releases heat. Dissolve the flakes in warm water at a ratio of 1 kg to 10 L of water, then apply and rinse thoroughly with plenty of fresh water.
