FU liquid paraffin (white mineral oil), also known as oenological oil, is a naturally derived product that is colourless, odourless and free from polycyclic hydrocarbons.
It is made with premium-grade raw materials, and the entire processing cycle is carefully controlled to ensure a top-quality product that is completely safe to use. The result is a particularly crystal-clear oil that is odourless and colourless, and above all fully compliant with Italian food law and the Official Pharmacopoeia (FU).
How to use liquid paraffin
Liquid paraffin has several uses across different fields.
In oenology—often referred to as oenological oil—it is a well-known surface treatment for use with floating-lid tanks. In this type of vessel, the oil must be applied around the edges of the stainless-steel float to prevent any air from coming into contact with the wine.
It can also be used to lubricate moving parts of grape presses, corks, and as a pressure fluid in hydraulic jacks.
Other known uses include an effective protective coating for wood and metals.
