300-L Oak Barrel
EnoartThe oak barrel is a container used for both beer and wine aging. It consists of curved staves held together by a variable number of hoops depending on its capacity.
Since ancient times, these barrels have been used not only for wine fermentation and aging but also for beer and distillates.
Why use an oak barrel?
Using an oak barrel increases the contribution of tannins (present in the wood as well as in the grapes), which give the typical aroma and color of wood-aged wines and also act as a preservative.
The wood used for the oak barrel is oak, which allows slight gas exchange with the outside and promotes tannin oxygenation. This helps polymerize the tannins, rounding the flavor of the wine, stabilizing it, and imparting characteristic oak aromas.
For distillates, the oak barrel is used for aging grappa, rum, cognac, and other spirits, producing a superior-quality final product.
The barrel can optionally be equipped with a stopper, a 20 cm-high pedestal, and a chrome brass tap. Options can be selected via the customization menu next to the product image. The oak barrel is refurbished, meaning it has been processed by a cooper with external cleaning treatment. This makes it suitable for red wines, while for white wines internal cleaning is recommended (optional).
