100-L Oak Barrel
EnoartThe oak barrel is a container used for both beer and wine aging. It is made up of curved staves held together by a variable number of hoops depending on the capacity.
Since ancient times, these barrels have been used not only for the fermentation and aging of wine, but also for beer and distillates.
Why use an oak barrel?
Using an oak barrel increases the contribution of tannins (present in the wood as well as in the grapes), which provide the typical aroma and color of wood-aged wines and also act as a preservative.
The wood used to make the oak barrel is oak, which allows slight gas exchange with the outside and promotes the oxygenation of tannins. This helps polymerize the tannins, rounding the wine’s flavor, stabilizing it, and imparting characteristic oak aromas.
For distillates, the oak barrel is used for aging grappa, rum, cognac, and other spirits, resulting in a superior-quality final product.
The barrel can optionally be equipped with a stopper, a pedestal available in two heights (10 or 20 cm), and a chrome brass tap. These options can be selected via the customization menu next to the product image. The oak barrel is refurbished, meaning it has been processed by a cooper with internal and external cleaning treatment.
